What type of pedestrian fence
did the council require?
Mascot Council in Sydney made the decision to revamp their town centre and had set budget aside for remediation works in the local area. They wanted to focus on developing the shopping precinct to help local small businesses, attract more visitors & improve safety of the busy intersection on Botany Road.
Their brief was to create a more cosmopolitan, ‘city eatery’ environment that aligned with the neighbouring Sans Souci area. They engaged ENCAT to design a pedestrian fence solution that could meed those needs but still provide protection for pedestrians or cafe patrons using the outdoor seating.
ENCAT had already designed the ‘knives and forks’ fence panel design used in Sans Souci so for Mascot we decided to create a ‘Multi-Course with fish and eggplant’ design so that the two areas were presented a little differently.
How were decorative pedestrian fence panels used outside a cafe strip?
ENCAT has designed a graphic overlay that can be placed on our pedestrian fence panel pieces. It is laser cut for absolute precision and accuracy so that it can be attached to our fencing installations. The end result is a great looking fence that contributes to the perfect ‘eat street’ cafe atmosphere, while ensuring all visitors are kept safe when they sit outside close to the passing traffic.
With our in-house capabilities, it means we can design panels that have words, logos or other shapes to suit the application. We can also produce our pedestrian fencing in a range of colours so they can match light poles or other fixtures or fittings in the area. By laser-cutting each design and attaching it to the standard fencing, Encat was able to provide a highly attractive, durable and yet fully functional fence design.
What the council also did was leave space to plant low level hedges in front of the fencing which softened the streetscape even more. This also complimented the other tree lined streets of the area very well.
