ENCAT Modular pedestrian fencing panels

MODULAR PANELS EASILY REPLACED IF DAMAGED BY A VEHICLE

We can manufacture and supply pedestrian fencing end posts in either base plate or in ground variations to suit your site requirements. The end post is installed with all pedestrian fencing types i.e. Type 1,2,3,4,5. It also works with Verge and Median panels. Any installation requires two end posts per run of fencing ie one at each end. End posts are designed to prevent spearing of the panel through the post.

This fencing is specially designed to reduce injuries to vehicle occupants and pedestrians in the event of an accident. The unique staggered vertical bar layout helps improve vision for pedestrians and motorists.

The stringent RMS specifications of steel and weld quality ensure that in the event of an accident, when the steel and welds reach maximum yield, the fencing deforms and crushes in a pre-determined designed way to provide the best RMS determined outcomes for pedestrians and vehicle occupants. Spearing injuries from standard balustrades in the past were a problem.

To avoid injuries and litigation it is crucial that the fencing has RMS compliant steel specifications and the welds are done to Australian Standards performed by a certified welder.

Fencing supplier
ENCAT is Australia’s largest manufacturer and supplier for all types of Pedestrian Fences and we make the fencing in our factory in NSW. We actively supply commercial fencing contractors, civil works contractors, councils or government department tenders that need a safety fence installed on for roads. ENCAT can design and manufacture Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4, Type 5 and Type 6 fence types. These products are commonly referred to as an RMS Pedestrian Fence or Pedestrian Safety Fence Panel. We only manufacture fence panels that are as specified by the NSW RMS or Roads Waterways Transport for NSW

The purpose of a pedestrian fence
The function of this type of fence construction is to help create safer movement patterns of roadside users. They are a physical barrier that we make using 100% recycled Australian steel that are used to direct pedestrians to safe crossing areas. It stops people from accessing areas of the road corridor where they may interact with vehicular traffic in an uncontrolled manner.

Typical pedestrian fencing installations
The most common use of pedestrian fencing is around shopping centres where people will try and cross the road to get to their car parking or roadside stores. It is not a road safety barrier and cannot be used in lieu of a road safety barrier. It is not designed to deflect or arrest an errant vehicle or to prevent injury to pedestrians by errant vehicles although it should deform on impact. If the fence panels have been designed and manufactured correctly they should collapse as a whole panel when impacted that minimises the detachment of individual elements, and features a staggered layout of the balusters allowing motorists and pedestrians approaching on opposite sides of the fence to see each other.

What are the variations of fencing?
Prior to 2011 this type of fence was known as RTA pedestrian fence and Type1 pedestrian fence, the naming has changed over time and includes these variations;

  • RMS type one pedestrian fencing
  • RTA type one pedestrian fencing
  • Pedestrian safety barrier type 1
  • RTA pedestrian fencing type 1
  • RMS pedestrian fencing type 1
  • RTA pedestrian fence type 1
