Boardwalk and shared pathway from Lake Foreshore at Tallawarra
"This has been such a great project to work on, especially for ENCAT as a local manufacturing company on the South Coast of NSW
It really pushed our capabilities and combined our strengths with Pedestrian Fencing, balustrades, boardwalk construction and our design expertise for products used in public spaces."
"To see public spaces made more accessible while protecting the environment is great to see & the Lake Illawarra Authority should be applauded for thinking about the local environment"John Ford - ENCAT Managing Director

Together with the NSW Government Lake Illawarra Authority, ENCAT helped with the completion of a brand new raised fiber glass boardwalk pedestrian access deck, complete with long lasting galvanised balustrade and hand-railing. This shared pathway is the latest addition in the Illawarra Lake bicycle and pedestrian path. The boardwalk is a wide walkway that stretches from the Koonawarra Bay concrete foot path to the adjoining Tallawarra concrete foot path that runs all the way to the jetty.
What is the Tallawarra boardwalk and shared pathway system?

The three-kilometre shared pathway at Tallawarra, connecting the foreshore of Koonawarra Bay to Yallah Bay was completed in 2013. This $1M project was approximately three years in the making and part of the the Lake Illawarra Coastal Management Program 2019-2029. It now makes more than eighty percent of the lake’s perimetre accessible for the public to enjoy for either walking or riding bikes.
“It consists of 2.7 kilometres of concrete pathway and 300 metres of elevated boardwalk over sensitive low-lying land south of Elizabeth Point,” Brian Dooley – LIA Executive Officer
Custom designed outdoor balustrade & handrail systems in Wollongong
ENCAT specialises in custom designed & manufactured outdoor balustrading that can be used in public parks, shopping centres, schools, national parks, factories or even commercial offices.
Each element is custom measured, designed using our 3D modelling software and then produced in our manufacturing facility in Wollongong. Our team manages the end to end process to ensure a high-quality product is provided for installation. More importantly, our process reduces any time wasted when it comes to on-site modifications or adjustments – because everything is custom-designed to fit perfectly, the first time.
These capabilities means we can make pretty much any shape, length, height required to suit the existing conditions. Where required we will also produce BCA compliant balustrades to meet Australian requirements.
